November 17, 2010 - Hephaestus Award Bestowed to Dr. Funatani
The 2010 Hephaestus Award for outstanding scientific contribution to the theory and practice of nitriding & nitrocarburizing will be presented to Dr. Kiyoshi Funatani for his leading role in the development and industrialization of various nitriding technologies in the automotive industry. We congratulate him for his nearly 50 years of exemplary work and dedication to the field of nitriding.
The Hephaestus Award recognizes contributions made by academic or industrial researchers to the field of heat treating that have had an impact on surface engineering, materials science, and industrial processes or production techniques.
